An evening of mystic Christmas, where the orange, the myrrh, the incense and the cedar, will tempt you to extend the beautiful winter evenings and the teas of Christmas in spices. "A link between the sacred and the profane, this Christmas candle celebrates childhood and recalls the gifts offered by the Wise Men to the Child King: gold, frankincense and myrrh. At Versailles, kings were children too. Louis XIV told his architect Jules Hardouin-Mansart, "Childhood must be everywhere," and all the children in the kingdom were given an orange for Christmas. Oranges were considered a luxury fruit and called "golden apples." - Elisabeth de Feydeau

Imagine the stories of Versailles told through fragrances! This collection recreates the scents from the Court of Versailles in candles unfolding the chapters of history. Perfume entered the Court of Versailles during the reign of Louis XIV, while Colbert made it a genuine artistic trade, bestowed with privileges. The Court of Louis XV was even known as the “Cour Parfumée” (perfumed court), where it was considered good form to change fragrances every day. Queen Marie-Antoinette made the floral bouquet a resounding success in perfumery.
